Quick answers
Does checking my limits use up my Claude or Codex allowance?
No. Quotchi asks Claude Code and Codex for their usage report through a control channel. It never sends a prompt or starts a model turn, so a check doesn’t count against your limits.
Does Quotchi read my prompts, code or chats?
No. It reads usage percentages and reset times. The optional Claude app and Gemini readers look only at the usage bars on their Usage pages and never read chat windows. See the privacy guide.
Do I need a Quotchi account?
No. Quotchi uses the sign-in your tools already have and never asks you to paste a password, token or API key.
Which Macs are supported?
Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) on macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Intel Macs aren’t supported.
I use an API key, not a subscription. Will it work?
Quotchi shows subscription plan limits (Claude Pro or Max, ChatGPT plans for Codex). API-key and cloud-provider sign-ins don’t have plan limits to show, so the setup check will tell you there’s nothing to read.
Where is Help inside the app?
Open the panel and click ⋯. From Quotchi 0.7.6 it has Help center (this site), Report a problem… (an email with diagnostics already filled in, which you can read and edit before sending) and Check for updates…. Settings → Privacy → Copy diagnostics copies the same details if you’d rather paste them yourself. Each tool’s card in Settings → AI tools also has a Provider help link. On 0.7.5 and earlier, look in Settings → Updates → Need a hand?
How do I quit Quotchi or open Settings?
The menu bar icon has no right-click menu. Click it to open the panel, then click ⋯ → Quit Quotchi, or the gear for Settings. While the panel is open, ⌘Q quits and ⌘, opens Settings.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pro is a one-time, lifetime license for two Macs. Settings → Pro has a Get Pro button that opens pricing on this site. Checkout opens at launch; until then, everything in Free works without a time limit. License & refunds.
