Terms of use

Acceptance

These terms are an agreement between you and Quotchi, the Mac app and website made and run by Thomas Kanze, a self-employed developer based in Costa Rica (“Quotchi”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using the Quotchi app, or by buying a Pro license, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Quotchi.

How we handle data is described in the privacy policy. Pro activation details are on the license page.

The license

Free. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Free features of Quotchi on Macs you own or control, at no cost. Free has no account and no time limit.

Pro. A Pro license is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, lifetime license to use the Pro features on up to two Macs at once, including future Quotchi Pro updates. It is delivered as a signed license file that you import in Quotchi → Settings → Pro and that is verified on your Mac. To move it to another Mac, remove it from the Mac you stop using so that no more than two Macs use it at once.

“Lifetime” means the license does not expire and later Quotchi Pro updates are included. It is not a promise that the app, the website or any third-party tool will be available forever.

Quotchi remains ours. You get a license to use it, not ownership of the software, its code or its artwork.

Buying Pro

Pro is sold through Creem, which acts as the Merchant of Record. Creem is the seller of your purchase: it takes the payment, calculates and charges any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt and invoice. Quotchi provides the software and the license file. Your payment is also covered by Creem’s buyer terms; on payment matters, those apply.

Prices are shown in US dollars. Launch pricing rises by batch, as described on the pricing section and the license page; the price you see at checkout is the price you pay, plus any tax shown before you pay. A displayed availability count does not reserve a license.

Refunds

If Pro isn’t right for you, email [email protected] within seven days of purchase and we’ll refund it through Creem. Include your purchase email and receipt reference. The full policy is on the license page. This doesn’t affect any rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

After a refund, stop using Pro and remove the license file from your Macs.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• share, resell, publish or give away your Pro license file, or use it on more than two Macs at once;
• try to bypass, crack or tamper with license verification, or help others do so;
• reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms;
• use Quotchi to break the law, or to break the terms of the AI tools it reads;
• interfere with quotchi.com, its downloads or its checkout.

Third-party tools

Claude, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT and Gemini are products and trademarks of their owners (Anthropic, OpenAI and Google). Quotchi is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

Quotchi reads usage information those tools already show you. Their limits, formats and availability can change at any time without notice. Readings can be late, wrong or unavailable, and a reading in Quotchi is never a guarantee of how much you can use. Your use of each tool is governed by that tool’s own terms.

No warranty

Quotchi is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that Quotchi will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every version of the tools it reads.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as lost work, lost profits, lost data or a missed limit reset. Our total liability for any claim relating to Quotchi is limited to the amount you paid for your Pro license, or zero if you use only Free.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.

Changes

We may update Quotchi and these terms. When the terms change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page; for a material change we’ll also note it in the changelog. Continuing to use Quotchi after a change means you accept the updated terms. A change never takes away a Pro license you already bought.

Termination

You can stop using Quotchi at any time; the uninstall guide shows how to remove it fully. If you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing or reselling a license file, your license to use Quotchi ends. The sections on third-party tools, no warranty, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply after that.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you buy as a consumer, this doesn’t take away any protections that the law of the country where you live gives you and that can’t be waived by agreement.
